Dissolve the resins in the MEK. Next add the titanium dioxide and amine and ball mill to the desired pigment fineness. Using good agitation, carefully disperse the "carbopol" 934 in the resindispersion.
Lastly, combine the water and methanol and add this blend with vigorous mixing. The mixture will immediately thicken.
In this formulation, it is very important to add the water and alcohol as a blend. If the water is added separately, the "Carbopol" 934 will precipitate as the water is added and require extensive mixing to dissolve. Lower viscosities can be obtained by reducing the amount of "Carbopol" 934 and proportionately reducing the amount of amine. |
